eather boas, glittering prime hats and a drag queen helped a Kent care house’s first anniversary celebrations sparkle.
One of many standout performers on the “pink social gathering” at Maplewood Courtroom in Maidstone in July was drag queen Chamonix Aspen, who inspired residents and visitors to become involved with the singing and dancing.
So as to add to the festive temper, partygoers donned their most fashionable pink outfits and volunteer Lynne Rita Lovell made a particular cake.
The house’s head of hospitality, Herve Boscher, stated: “Pink, pink and extra pink was the theme for our first anniversary social gathering, and, oh, we did properly!
“Feather boas, glittering prime hats, dickie bows, an enormous balloon arch, pink lemonade – and even a whoopie cushion costume that the majority of us had by no means seen earlier than.
“We went a bit overboard, but it surely was all price it.”
Resident Rosemary Kelly, 87, was equally proud of the festivities.
“I might have by no means imagined seeing a drag queen in a care house,” she stated.
“Herve and his staff actually preserve us on our toes!
“It was a lot enjoyable, and we hope Chamonix shall be again quickly.”
Maplewood Courtroom is a luxurious, purpose-built care house with 72 non-public, en-suite rooms and particular person care plans are tailored to swimsuit every resident’s wants.
